Hiphop

Hip-hop on Ziki covers rap in all its forms: boom-bap, trap, drill, conscious rap, party records and melodic, sung-rap crossovers. It's built on the beat and the bars. Producers bring the drums, samples and bass; rappers bring flow, wordplay and a point of view.

Kenyan and East African rappers write in English, Swahili, Sheng and their mother tongues, often switching mid-verse, and they talk about what they know: the hustle, the city, relationships, ambition, family and the things nobody else is saying out loud. Alongside local artists you'll also find producers uploading beats and instrumentals ready for the next verse.
